Friday - dance time!

Last time, we had dance from the Oromo. Today, it's traditional dance from another ethnic group in Ethiopia, the Afar.

I like the video below because, in addition to Afar dance and music, it has cool swords and demonstrations of good dental hygiene.

Last Friday, we had dance from the Gurage. Today, it's traditional dance from another ethnic group in Ethiopia, the Oromo.


Girls see boys. Boys see girls. All farm work ceases. Dance ensues!




Men with long sticks and big swords invite women to dance with them!

This style of Oromo dance is kind of violent. I don't know what it's about; I wish I did.
