I've seen a number of blogs-in-Georgia that refer to weekly showers or baths in the rural areas. I didn't know if that was a function of custom or if water was actually inaccessible for days at a time.

One blog seems to answer my question:
So I'm glad I've packed some personal hygiene items that will offset the lack of water to wash oneself and one's clothes.
- "We haven’t had water for 6 out of the last 11 days"
- "I’ve been without water for 13 days now ..."
- "... in any given month we go without water for at least one week consecutively, ... "
But while we're on the subject of hardships, enjoy the U.S. Army's Guide to Staying Healthy in the Republic of Georgia. Some titillating morsels:
- Caterpillars with hairs that cause great pain upon contact with one's skin
- Several species of scorpions and spiders, some with potentially fatal venom
- Several species of highly poisonous snakes, which are well camouflaged and very aggressive ... may cause serious illness or death in less than one hour
- Contaminated water, soil, food in some areas - from radiation (Chernobyl) and the by-products of war, agriculture, and industry
Well, then. My pack list doesn't include any protections against these.
I am going to Georgia very soon and my packing list does not reflect items to accommodate the circumstances listed above. Will you share some of the items you packed to help you out?
